ABSTRACT
This paper examines e-learning pedagogy in the English language primary school classroom: Emerging issues and trends. It discusses the concept of e‑learning and highlights the prepared-ness of public primary schools in implementing educational innovations. The paper further explores the discussion of the emerging issues and trends that are most relevant to the English language primary school classroom context. The major conclusions of the paper is that e- learning offers great promise as a powerful tool that can be integrated into curriculum and instruction to enhance education. Yet, a careful consideration of its promises and a thorough review of the literature suggest that persuasive usage on internet technology does not guarantee positive gains in instructional objectives, rather, the heart of learning lies in effective instructional strategies that manage diverse educational provisions to optimize student learning.

PERCEPTION OF SELECTED ADULT EDUCATION STUDENTS ON THE BENEFITS OF ADULT EDUCATION FOR LEARNERS AND NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

ABSTRACT
This study is meant to discover the perception of selected adult education students on the benefits of adult education for the learners and for national development. According to the Global Monitoring Report (G.M.R), in 2015, adult illiteracy of Nigeria was 41.3 million. Adult illiteracy of Nigeria increased from 24 million to 41.3 million in 2015, growing at an average annual rate of 21.00% and in 2020, 35% of the adult population is still illiterate. The Federal Government of Nigeria, knowing fully that the rate of illiteracy is high in Nigeria, and has therefore introduced Adult education programmes so as to eradicate illiteracy in Nigeria. Trained Adult educators were therefore used to handle the teaching and learning of illiterate population in the country. It is assumed that adult education learners benefit a lot from this programme, some of which are: knowing the skill of reading and writing, opportunities to continue their education to any level, skills acquisition, innovative and creative ideas, job opportunity, opportunity to develop self and the nation, among others. It is based on the above benefits that this study is meant to confirm the advantages by using adult education learners as respondents. Hence, the purpose of this study. The study sampled of 300 male and female students were selected from College of Education Minna and Ibrahim BadamasiBabangida University, Lapai, Niger State, using stratified random sampling technique. The data collected were analysed using mean score, mean ranking and T-test. The result of the research questions and the hypotheses proved that all the items on benefits were responded to positively. It was recommended that education should be made compulsory for all citizens, adequate trained professional adult educators be employed, adequate teaching and learning materials should be provided, adult education should involve male and female learners to learn self-sustainable entrepreneurs and to further their education, to mention a few. These are capable of impacting positively on Adult education in the pedagogical and andragogical teaching processes.

IMPACT ASSESSMENT OF TEACHERS’ TURNOVER AND MOTIVATION ON STUDENTS PERFORMANCE IN PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
This study focused on the impact assessment of teachers’ turnover and motivation on students’ performance in private secondary schools in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Two research questions and its corresponding null hypotheses guided the study. A descriptive survey research design was adopted using population of 1,566 teachers in private secondary schools and 156 teachers were used as a sample size of the study across the state. Two instruments ‘‘Teachers Turn- Over Questionnaire (TTQ) and Profoma were also used for data collection. TTQ and Profoma were validated which gave 0.77 validity index and 0.79 reliability index using Cronbach alpha. Data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation for answering research questions while One-sample t-test and ANOVA were used for testing hypotheses at 0.05 level of significant, and the results reveals that there is a significant impact of teachers’ turnover on students’ performance in private secondary schools and there is no significant impact assessment of teachers’ turnover and motivation on students’ performance in private secondary schools in Nasarawa State. Based on the findings of this study, the following recommendations were made: that, teachers in Nasarawa State should be motivated to allow the stay and put in their best in the teaching profession would improve students’ performance in private secondary schools and private schools owners should organize impact assessment policy toward motivation, and giving pension/gratuity after retirement among others.

EFFECT OF METACOGNITIVE INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY ON SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS’ INTEREST IN TRIGONOMETRY IN NASARAWA STATE, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
This study investigated the Effect of Metacognitive Instructional Strategy on Senior Secondary School Students’ Interest in Trigonometry in Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Two research questions and two hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted a quasi-experimental research of pre-test, post-test, post-post-test, non-equivalent, non-randomized control group design. 2450 (1260 male and 1190 female) students were used as the population of the study. The sample comprised two intact classes. The experimental group is the metacognitive group which had 65 students of 35 males and 30 females while the control group is the conventional group which had 62 students of 33 males and 29 female students using multistage random sampling technique. The instrument used for data collection was Trigonometry Interest Questionnaire (TAQ) and was validated by experts. Descriptive statistics of mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions, while inferential statistics of ANCOVA was used to test the hypothesis at 0.05 level of significant. The finding among others reveal that: there was a significant difference between the Interest of Senior secondary school students’ taught Trigonometry using Metacognitive instructional strategy and those taught using Lecture method in favor of the students taught trigonometry using Metacognitive Instructional Strategy. Also, there was no significant difference between the interests level of male and female SS I students taught Trigonometry using Metacognitive instructional strategy. It was therefore recommended among others that Metacognitive instructional strategy should be used to teach students irrespective of gender.

EFFECTS OF EARLY CHILDHOOD INTERVENTION ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT OF PUPILS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE IN OTANA INTEGRATED SCHOOL JOS, PLATEAU STATE

ABSTRACT
The study investigated the effects of early childhood intervention on academic achievement of pupils with hearing impairment in English language in Otana Integrated School Jos, Plateau State. The research design adopted for this study was causal-comparative research design to determine the effects of early childhood intervention programme for children with congenital hearing impairment in Otana Integrated School Jos, Plateau State. The population of the study was 36 and the sample used was 36 primary one, two three and four pupils living with congenital hearing impairment. The study employed three (3) research questions. Two hypotheses were formulated which were tested at 0.05 level of significance and the t-test statistics was employed in testing hypotheses 1 and 2. The researchers employed purposive sampling method/technique. The two instrument used in this research for data collection was the Pupils Individual Records (PID) and the Pupils’ Academic Records (PAR). The researchers analyzed the data with the use of descriptive and inferential statistics. The findings revealed that male and female pupils with hearing impairment who received early childhood intervention programme performed far better than male and female pupils with hearing impairment who did not received early childhood intervention. In fact, the researchers also showed that male and female pupils with hearing impaired who received early childhood intervention exhibited high performance compared to male and female pupils with hearing impairment who did not received early childhood intervention programme performed poorly. The researchers therefore recommended that National Association of Early Childhood Education (NAECE) should from time to time conduct public awareness on televisions, radio and in schools to see the need and importance of early childhood education of pupils living with hearing impairment, especially those with congenital hearing impairment and their psycho-social well-being, in fact Federal Government of Nigeria and Parents should promote activities that will encourage good and total inclusion of children living with hearing impairment especially those with congenital hearing impairment.
EFFECTIVENESS OF COOPERATIVE INSTRUCTIONAL STRATEGY ON MATHEMATICS INTEREST AND ACHIEVEMENT IN PRIMARY SCHOOL IN ABUJA F.C.T.

ABSTRACT
The study concentrated on cooperative instructional strategies and its effectiveness on mathematics interest and achievement in primary school in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) Abuja F.C.T. Two purposes, research questions and hypotheses guided the study. Quasi-experimental research design was used for the study. The sample size for the study consist of 122 (55 Males and 67 Females) drawn from six intact classes in the six area councils of the F.C.T. Simple random sampling was used to draw six intact classes from the six area councils in the F.C.T. Mathematics Interest Rating Scale (MIRS) and Mathematics Achievement Test (MAT) were the instruments used for data collection. Cronbach Alpha formula was used to measure the internal consistency of (MIRS), which yielded a reliability estimate of .81. Kuder-Rechardson formula 20 (K-R 20) determined the reliability of (MAT), which yielded a reliability estimate of 0.85. Mean, standard deviations and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) were used to analyze the pre-test and post-test data in relation to the research questions and hypotheses raised for this study. The study revealed that cooperative instructional strategy increased pupil’s interest and enhanced their achievement in mathematics more than the conventional method in FCT primary school in Nigeria. The study recommends that instructional strategies that have interactive features like cooperative Instructional Strategy (CIS) should be encouraged in schools especially in primary school to enhance their interest and achievement in mathematics.

SAFEGUARDING THE RIGHT TO PRIVACY, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, EXPRESSION AND ASSOCIATION IN UNIVERSITIES IN KEBBI STATE, NIGERIA: IMPLICATIONS FOR EDUCATIONAL MANAGERS

ABSTRACT
This study examined the extent of application of managerial strategies by Universities in Kebbi State and for safeguarding the right to privacy, freedom of religion, expression and association. The study used a descriptive survey design. Out of a total population of 1,450 participants, 100 staff, 150 students and 50 management staff of the Universities was selected to get a sample of 300 participants for the study. The sample was selected using purposive, stratified and simple random sampling techniques. A self-designed questionnaire titled: “Managerial Strategies for Safeguarding Human Rights Questionnaire” (MSSHRQ) was expert validated and pilot tested using test re-test method. A reliability co-efficient of 0.86 was obtained, using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Co-efficient at 0.05 alpha level. The questionnaire with four sections was based on a five-point scale to measure extent of performance. Simple frequencies, percentages and means were used in analyzing the data. The study found that to a very high extent Universities in Kebbi State satisfactorily applied managerial strategies for safeguarding fundamental human rights in their institutions although, some lapses were identified. The study therefore recommended among others that there should be improved maintenance of public conveniences, for privacy, more freedom should be given to minority religions to propagate their religions.

IMPACTS OF INFOMATION AND COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY (ICT) IN KNOWLEDGE MANAGEMENT PRACTICES IN LIBRARIES: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
The practice of managing knowledge in academic library is aimed at improving services to users and quality in administration. Knowledge management practices entails generation, acquisition, organization, sharing, mapping, audit, packaging and preservation among others. To facilitate the processes involved in managing knowledge in academic libraries, information and communication technology facilities and tools become necessary as enabler. This paper discussed the conceptual meaning of knowledge in different perspectives. The paper also explained the types of library services available in academic libraries. Knowledge management stages was also discussed and the application of ICT in KM for effective services delivery was equally reviewed. The article conclude Information and communication technology (ICT) played a vital role in the managing knowledge in academic libraries through th use of facilities and tools such as computer systems, software, internet network among others. Academic libraries need to invest heavily in information technology literacy for both staff and library users.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE ACTIVITIES, FACTORS, AND IMPACTS ON WOMEN IN SOUTHERN KADUNA STATE RURAL COMMUNITIES IN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
This study looked into the claimed rise in domestic violence against women in rural Southern Kaduna State, Nigeria. Investigations were conducted on the causes, types of abuse (which can happen inside or outside the house), and the catastrophic impact on the victims, their families, and society at large. The study’s objective was to ascertain the scope of the impacts of domestic violence, which primarily affects women and has a negative impact on many households and families in rural Southern Kaduna State. The primary objectives of the study’s descriptive survey research design were three research questions. Using a purposive sampling method, 500 respondents were selected for the sample from five Local Government Areas in southern Kaduna State. The researcher developed a 30-item questionnaire to ask the respondents about their experiences with domestic violence. The data were analysed using the mean. The study’s conclusions showed that domestic violence has a history among women in rural southern Kaduna, Nigeria. Increased domestic violence against women and women’s general ignorance of what domestic violence implies received high ratings in the findings. The victims were more likely to experience PTSD, despair, feelings of hopelessness and melancholy, etc. due to the conditions. Based on these, the researchers provided a framework for domestic violence counselling programmes throughout Nigeria as a whole, not just for people of southern Kaduna. The research also recommended that the Nigerian government devote the majority of its resources to putting an end to domestic violence against women nationwide, not only in southern Kaduna State.

STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENT IN BASIC SCIENCE AS A PREDICTOR OF SCIENCE SUBJECTS IN SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN SOUTH EAST GEO-POLITICAL ZONE, NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
The study investigated students’ achievement in basic science as a predictor of science Subjects in Senior Secondary Schools in South East Geo-Political Zone, Nigeria. Three research questions and it corresponding null hypotheses. The study adopted a descriptive survey of the ex-post facto research design type in which there was no treatment and manipulation of independent variable. The target population of the study consist of 26,9879 students’ that registered for 2020/2021 SSCE in South East Geo-Political Zone, Nigeria were 1,518 students from ten (10) secondary schools were used as a sampled size of the study. A proforma (SPISSR) was used as an instrument for data collection, was validated which yielded 0.87 validity index and the 0.84 reliability index. The researcher made use of correlation and its associated simple regression of Ordinary Least Square (OLS) method to answered research questions and to test the null hypotheses at the 0.05 level of significance. Findings reveal that students’ JSCE Basic science do not significantly predict their SSCE Biology scores, students’ JSCE Basic science scores do not significantly predict their scores in SSCE Chemistry and Physics. Based on the findings of this study, the following were recommended: It was recommended that JSCE Basic Science curriculum be reviewed to be in conformity with the SSCE syllabus for science subjects in order to enhance its predictive validity, teaching and learning of basic science in junior secondary school should be enhanced so as to adequately equip students as it relates to their future studies in science.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND, INCOME LEVEL AND FAMILY SIZE AS FACTORS INFLUENCING MARITAL INSTABILITY AMONG WORKING-CLASS WOMEN IN PORT HARCOURT METROPOLIS

ABSTRACT
This study investigated the educational background, income level and family size as factors influencing marital instability among working-class women in Port Harcourt Municipality of Rivers State. Three objectives, research questions and hypotheses guided the study. The study adopted the ex post-facto design. The population consisted of 657 married women on the payroll of the Port Harcourt Local Government Council. The sample size consisted of 237 respondents using a purposive sampling technique. Working Class Women Marital Instability Assessment Scale was used for data collection. The instrument had a reliability index of 0.89, determined through the Pearson’s Product-moment Correlation. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research question, while the hypotheses were tested using Analysis of Variance at the 0.05 level of significance. Findings from this study revealed that there was a significant influence of educational background, income level and family size on the level of marital instability among working-class married women in Port Harcourt Municipality of Rivers State. The study recommended amongst others that married working-class women should seek higher educational attainment but not to the detriment of their marriages and couples should plan their family size based on their economic status and position in the society.

ASSESSMENT OF MANAGERIAL STRATEGIES FOR PROTECTION OF RIGHT TO LIFE, DIGNITY, LIBERTY AND FAIR HEARING IN UNIVERSITIES IN KEBBI STATE, NIGERIA: IMPLICATIONS TO EDUCATIONAL MANAGERS

ABSTRACT
This study assessed the extent of application of managerial strategies for the protection of right to life, dignity of the human beings, right to personal liberty and right to fair hearing in universities in Kebbi state of North-western Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was used for the study. The population of the study comprised of students, staff and management staff of Kebbi State University of Science and Technology and Federal University, Birnin Kebbi. Stratified, deliberate and simple random sampling techniques were to select a sample 300 participants out of a total population of 1,450 from the two universities. A self-designed and validated instrument titled: “Managerial Strategies for Protection of Human Right Questionnaire” (MSPHRQ) was used to collect data. The five-point instrument with 31 items and four sections was pilot tested using test, re-test method using Pearson Product Moment correlation co-efficient which yielded correlation index of 0.86 at 0.05 level of significance. Simple frequencies, percentages, and means ratings were used to analyze the data. The study found that the application of managerial strategies for the protection of fundamental human rights in universities in Kebbi State was rated as highly satisfactory although there were lapses that needed to be addressed. It was recommended that to protect lives, more emphasis should be given to security measures. To protect dignity of the human beings, condition of service and human relations should be improved upon. Staff and students should be enlightened on their rights in cases of illegal arrest and detention for protection of their personal liberty. Accused persons should be given adequate time and facilities to defend themselves.

PSYCHOLOGICAL EFFFCTS OF OCCUPATIONAL INFORMATION GROUP COUNSEL NG ON CAREER CHOICE AMONG SSS 3 STUDENTS IN FEDERAL GOVERNMENT GIRLS’ COLLEGE POTISKUM, YOBE STATE

ABSTRACT
The study investigate the effects of occupational information group counseling on career choice among senior secondary school students in Federal Government Girls’ College, Potiskum. The study has four (4) objectives with one research question and four (4) hypothesis. The research design for the study was quasi- experimental of pre-test, post-test. The population of the study comprises of all senor secondary school students of Federal Government Girls’ College Potiskum. A total of one hundred (100) students were randomly selected from senior secondary students (SSS 3). Stratified random sampling was also used to select students offering science, arts, commercial and technical subjects from each department. Vocational Interest Inventory (VII) developed by Bakare (1970) was employed to collect data from the participants. Three stage was used to collect data thus, pre-treatment, treatment and post-treatment stages. The data generated was analysed using t-test and ANCOVA. The findings of the study showed that there was significant difference between students who have received career information group counseling and those who have not (t=7.791; p<0.05); the effect of occupational information group counseling on career choice does not significantly vary according to the gender of the students (t=2.971; p<0.05). The effect of career information group counseling on career choice does not significantly vary according to the age of the students (t=289;p<0.05); there is significant effect of occupational information group counseling on career choice according to the department of the students (F=9.03; p<0.05). Educational stakeholders should intensify their efforts to organize seminars/ conference on the application of career group counseling as effective intervention toward enhancing career choice among secondary school students; educational planners should introduce vocational education in secondary schools. this is worthwhile because vocational education extends the academic word to the world of work; teachers should emphaise during their lesson, the career implications of the subjects that students will see how individual subjects relate to existing career thus increasing their knowledge of occupation forms part of the recommendations.

ABSTRACT
This research explores the phenomenon of the teachers’ authority and its interaction with model technology. Niger State secondary schools are frequently plagued by minor infractions of disobedience, questioning educator’s authority, misbehavior that disrupts the flow of school activities, and declines in respect for teacher’s authority by students’. The objectives of this study are to: analyze place of teachers’ authority and its interaction with model technology, textbook in relation to students’ learning in secondary schools in Niger State, Nigeria. In carrying out the research, the speculative, analytical and prescriptive methods in philosophy were employed. The findings revealed that, the cell phones, especially smart phones, with newer technologies to maintain anonymity, let secondary schools students in Niger State communicate or do things that were otherwise prohibited in this formal space of school or education. The finding also revealed that, irrespective of teacher authority and subject specific concerns, in general teachers in secondary schools more often report having to work with outdated textbook in short supply; outdated other kind of technology and inadequate or nonexistent science equipment, materials and laboratory. In conclusion, teachers should have authority to recognize and evaluate the talent of class leadership, with decent teaching methods, with technology or without technology. Modern technologies like computers and internet facilities should be encouraged by teachers during teaching learning process, while the use of mobile phones in the classroom be discouraged.
ACQUIRING WRITING SKILLS IN NIGERIAN SECONDARY SCHOOLS: TEACHERS’ AND STUDENTS’ CHALLENGES

ABSTRACT
English is an international language and in demand today. English is by far the most widely used language around the world. However, English language writing has always been a challenge for second language students’ to master. Developing students’ ability in writing is one of the major challenges faced by the ESL teachers in most schools nowadays. Nevertheless, writing has always been a major difficulty faced by students’ in English language learning, especially in secondary schools. Not only that, teachers’ are also facing some challenges in teaching writing skills for students’ in secondary schools. Thus, this study aims to explore the challenges faced by both the students’ and teachers’ in learning as well as teaching writing skills in secondary schools.

ATTITUDE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS TOWARD INCLUSIVE EDUCATION

ABSTRACT
Inclusive education is one of the most essential programme in all countries. It has given more opportunities to all students in the education system. The success of inclusive education depends on many factors, which teacher is the most significant. To become a competent and successful teacher in inclusive education, teachers need to have adequate knowledge, skills, and a positive attitude toward the students being taught. In the present study, an attempt has been made by the researcher to study the attitude of primary school teachers towards inclusive education in the Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State, Nigeria. A descriptive survey method was used in the study. The sample consists of 150 primary school teachers in the three zones from the study area and a stratified random sampling method was used for data collection. A questionnaire requesting information about the demographic variables of teachers and the measurement of their attitudes toward inclusive education was developed. The study employed the use of a five-point Linkert rating scale for the analysis of data. The major findings from the study showed that teachers have a strong belief that inclusive education is socially beneficial to all students, students can learn in inclusive classrooms if their teachers are willing to adapt the curriculum, and students regardless of their ability should be taught in regular classrooms.

ABSTRACT
This paper examines Impacts of Social Media on Students’ Academic Achievement in Senior Secondary Schools in Mubi North Local Government Area. (Six Government Schools were randomly selected and used for this research). The rationale behind the study is to find out whether the exposures of the students to social media have effects on their academic performance. The survey research method was adopted, employing the questionnaire as an instrument of data collection. The Social Media Usage Questionnaire (SMUQ) was the instruments used for the study. Taro Yamme Formula was used for determination of the sample of the study, where a sample of 109 teachers was randomly selected from six schools. Analysis of the data collected was carried out using Chi Square (X2) at 0.05 level of significance. The findings showed that senior secondary schools in Mubi North LGA, Adamawa, Nigeria, have access to social media and that their exposure to social media is to a very great extent. Findings also proved that Facebook, WhatsApp and TikTok are the most used social media by senior secondary schools in Mubi North LGA. The results also revealed that there is significance relationship between time spent on social media and academic performance of students. Based on the findings, the paper concludes that exposure to social media by the senior secondary schools in Mubi North LGA have negative effects on their academic performance. Use of Facebook, WhatsApp and TikTok was the most preferred social media by students, 68% of them preferred Facebook and WhatsApp. Based on these findings the study recommends that parents and teachers should monitor and supervise the activities of their children most especially in the areas of internet and social media.

CAREER CHOICE DETERMINANTS OF ACCOUNTING OPTION AMONG BUSINESS EDUCATION STUDENT’S IN COLLEGES OF EDUCATION IN NORTH-EASTERN NIGERIA

ABSTRACT
The study examined Career Choice Determinants of Accounting Option Among Business Education Student’s in Colleges of Education in North-Eastern Nigeria. The research has two specific objectives, two research questions that were meant to guide the study and two null hypotheses formulated and were tested at a 0.05 level of significance. The study adopted a survey research design that is purely quantitative, using an adapted questionnaire that was administered to 131 randomly selected NCE III Students in Colleges of Education in North East Nigeria. Data collected was analyzed using mean and standard deviation as well as the use of while Linear Logistic Regression in testing the hypotheses. The results indicated that family background and peer group have a significant positive influence on students’ choice of accounting option among business education students in the colleges of education in the North-Eastern Nigeria. By implication, a dramatic decline in both the number and the quality of students who are choosing accounting as a Career choice will improve positively. The study further recommended that, for students to make the right career choice, the family (parents) and peer group should be encouraged not to interfere on students’ career choice and likely be forced to go to a wrong choice.

ABSTRACT
This paper provides the definition of numeracy, categories of numeracy, importance of numeracy, characteristics of adult learners which would give hint to the facilitators on how to cope with his/her learners, the strategy for teaching counting to adult learners in simple form on how to read and write numbers, both indicated number in figure and words, tables were drawn to easy acquire reading skills in numbers and words, identify the place value/position of each number and the end of each step there are activities for the facilitator to give to the learners to test their abilities.

ABSTRACT
This study examined Motivation and Academic Achievement of Students’ toward sustainable national development in Nigeria with reference to College of Education Waka – Biu, Borno State. Two research questions were raised to guide the study. The descriptive survey research design was used. Target population was NCE two (400) and NCE three (420) students covering Economics department from the Schools of Arts and social science. 200 respondents were purposively sampled. 21-item of research instrument based on 5-point Likert scale was tagged through the Motivation for Academic Achievement Questionnaire (MAAQ). Data collated were analyzed using simple frequency and mean. Finding of the studies concludes that intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in a proper blend has the potency to improve students’ academic achievement in Economics. The study finally recommends among others that, students should be concertized as well as be empowered to realize that they played the most important role in motivating themselves first toward sustainability, before anyone else; and economics alongside other teaching subject areas to be made interesting so as to arouse and sustain students’ interests and enhance learners’ achievement motivations.

SURVEY OF ACADEMIC CORRUPT PRACTICES AND SOLUTION ON STUDENTS’ EDUCATIONAL OUTCOME IN PUBLIC TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN SOKOTO STATE: IMPLICATION FOR NATIONAL DEVELOMENT

ABSTRACT
The research investigates the academic corrupt practices and students’ educational outcome in public tertiary institutions in Sokoto state Nigeria. The research design used was descriptive survey. The The total population of this study consisted of one thousand seven hundred and seventy-nine (1779) lecturers and heads of public tertiary institutions in Sokoto State. One thousand seven hundred and four (1704) are lecturers and seventy-five (75) are Heads of Department. Total sample of three hundred and ninety seven (397) using Research Advisors 2006. However, deliberate sampling techniques was used, to distribute the heads of departments. Proportionate sampling and Simple random sampling techniques were used to distribute the instruments across the lecturers in the nine (9) public institutions in the state. Self-designed instruments was used for the collection data for the study, tagged as Survey of Academic Corrupt Practices Questionnaire (SACPQ). (SACPQ) questionnaire comprises of eighty (80) items. The validity of the instrument was ascertained by the panel of experts in the school of general Education, Shehu Shagari College of Education Sokoto. test re-test method of reliability, given fifty (50) samples of questionnaires. The data collected analysed statistically by the means of Pearson Product Movement Correlation Co-efficient and the indext was 0.89. This shows that the instrument is adequate. inferential statistical techniques ANCOVA and chi-square was used to analysed the hypothesis of the study. The findings revealed that there is significant difference in the forms of Academic Corrupt practices in public tertiary institution in Sokoto State, admission-related corrupt practices, research related corrupt practices, Examination related corrupt practices and lectures related corrupt practices concurs in all public tertiary institutions in the state. It was concluded that admission-related corrupt practices was the highest form of academic corrupt practices in public tertiary institutions in Sokoto State, followed by research related corrupt practices, Examination related corrupt practices and the least was Lectures related corrupt practices. The study recommended that: School Managements of the institutions should consider and approve the thorough supervision and inspections of all forms of academic corrupt practices in their institutions in order to discourage all forms of corrupt practices in the state.

PERCEPTION OF SCHOOL SAFETY AND LEARNING OUTCOMES IN A CONTEXT OF NATIONAL SECURITY

ABSTRACT
School safety on learning outcomes is increasing in epidemic proportion and the range of the problem of school safety is wider than it seems. This problem is still on-going despite numerous researches on school safety and learning outcomes. It is pertinent to investigate the perception of school safety and learning outcomes in a context of national security. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design in carrying out the research. A total of 300 participants were randomly selected from different secondary schools in Lagos state using stratified random sampling. A research instrument tagged “School Safety and Learning Outcomes Questionnaire (SSLOQ)” was used to collect data for the study. Pearson Product Moment Correlation, t-test and Multiple Regression statistic were used to answer the research questions. Findings from the study revealed was significant relationship between school safety and learning outcomes among secondary school students (r =.212** p < 0.05). It shows that there was joint effect of the independent variables (school safety, physical facility and environment) on learning outcomes among secondary school students in Lagos state(R = 0.913, p<.05). The combination of the independent variables accounted for 83.1% (adjusted R2 = 0.831) of the total variance in the prediction of learning outcomes among secondary school students in Lagos state) and gender had no significant influence on learning outcomes among secondary school students [t (298) = 1.69; p > .05]. Based on the findings, it was recommended that owners of schools and other stakeholders in education should take bold steps to fence and protect school environments from intruders to ensure safety of the students.

IMPACT OF INTERNAL CONTROL SYSTEM ON NON-FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE IN EDUCATIONAL TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS IN NORTH-EAST ZONE

ABSTRACT
This study examined the impact of internal control system on non-financial performance in Educational Tertiary Institutions in North Eastern Nigeria. Specifically, the study determined the impact of control environment, control activities, information and communication, risk assessment and monitoring on non-financial performance of tertiary educational institutions. Data was collected using questionnaires which were administered to 80 respondents. The research concluded that control activities and monitoring of information communication, significantly influences non financial performance as indicated by these analysis; (F=5.836, p = 000). Control activities (β = .315, p = 0.045) and monitoring (β = .432, p = 0.049) significantly predict changes in non financial performance, while control environment (β = .162, p = 0.186) and information and communication (β = .264, p = 0.128) does not significantly predict changes in financial management.

LANGUAGE EDUCATION FOR PEACE, SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT: THE ROLE OF YORUBA TEACHER

ABSTRACT
This paper shall succinctly explore the latent potential inherent and effective in Yoruba language as a tool for peace, well cultured society, safety and national development. It focuses on the latent potential of indigenous language (Yoruba) as a means of transmitting ethical and moral values that engender the right attitudinal order in view to tackle the problem of peace, security and development in Nigeria. This paper also assert the position of Yoruba language as a medium of instruction for perfecting peace and security which form the basis for any national development. Three research questions were formulated to guide the study. A 20 item instrument was used for the study. The data generated was analysed using frequency count and simple percentage. One hundred and fifty (150) people were randomly selected for the study. The selection of respondents based on gender balance. This paper brings out recommendations for maintain peace and security and well cultured society that will bring development in the country, which based on the outcome of the findings.
