*Department of Business Administration and Entrepreneurship, Bayero University Kano, Nigeria **Department of Business Administration, National Open University of Nigeria, Abuja.
The study which is a conceptual paper, proposes a framework for the mediating role of organizational justice on the relationship between job satisfaction and performance appraisal among public secondary school teachers in Kaduna state North-west in Nigeria. However, there is paucity of research that have considered the relationship between job satisfaction and performance appraisal among public secondary schools. Most studies conducted on the direct relationship revealed mixed findings. Due to the inconsistencies in the literature on this relationship, a mediating variable of organizational justice was suggested. The study will add to the literature on what variables leads to job satisfaction among public secondary schools teachers in Kaduna State and in a developing country like Nigeria which is relatedly unexplored. This study examine the relationship between performance appraisal and employee`s job satisfaction through the moderating role of organizational justice in public secondary schools. This study is considering organizational justice as a moderator in order to explore the relationship among the study variables. Hence, this study will provide knowledge that may benefit public secondary schools on how to increase job satisfaction. Finally, the study depicts that, organizational justice is one of the most important internal leading factors affecting the employee performance and that when there is mutually constructed perception of fairness/equity among the employees, he/she will have sense of belonging within the organization, which subsequently can be a rationale for improving their job performance and in turn brings about positive performance appraisal.

The policing strategy adopted and employed by the Nigerian police force, the military and other Para- military forces has now become the subject of discussion in the public domain because of the failure in their attempts to curtail the snowballing flow of religious, political and non-state conflict and violence in the country. A number of domestic and international spectators have expressly challenged the existing policing approach engaged by the law enforcement agencies, particularly in their counter insurgency efforts in some of the security threatened northern states and other insecurity prone areas in Nigeria. There must be a paradigm shift in policing if the desired result in the security sector is to be achieved. This paper seeks to assess the influence of communal policing in checkmating the incessant violation of guidelines and directives thereby enhancing the adherence to constitutional guidelines in the country. In an effort to achieve the former, the historical development of modern policing will be traced in Nigeria, the constitutional duties of the Nigeria Police and the various strategies engaged by the police will be examined. The paper finds out that the existing nature of policing in Nigeria is outdated and no longer operative and further recommends among other things a paradigm shift towards the adoption of preemptive communal policing as a workable framework towards guaranteeing operational control in the security and safety of lives in Nigeria.

The analysis shows that most (47.6%) of the respondents saved regularly by putting money aside while low income (38.4%) tops the list of the reasons for not saving money. Other variables: household size and spouse’ negative spending habit were negative and significant (R2 =0.591, F-Ratio =28.650) at 5% level of significance. The result of ANOVA shows that there was no significant difference in respondent’s perception about savings, the effect of savings on entrepreneurship, and entrepreneurship traits at 5% level of significance. The study also found a positive correlation (r=0.22) between entrepreneurial development and the respondents’ savings (habit) at 5% level of significance. It was recommended among others, that governments’ entrepreneurship education programs should emphasize the need for savings, suitable forms of compulsory savings should be made to encourage savings behavior, equity contribution should be considered as collateral security to serve as incentive to those who save and, parents should teach their children the art of saving money.

Erickson Amos Nambitokan & Hayatu Stephen Augustine
Department of Business Administration and Management, Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola
The main aim of this paper is to examine the effect of entrepreneurial education on students’ entrepreneurial intentions. Also the study sought to determine whether such intention usually give rise to entrepreneurial start-up among students. Design/methodology/ approach-Primary data comes from 250 students who currently have entrepreneurship as one of their courses in their institution of higher learning within the North-east of the country. Respondents filled in a detailed questionnaire on their background and other related items as regards to their entrepreneurship education. A model of regression analysis was considered most appropriate for the data analysis of the study used. The use of regression analysis results from the fact that it will enable the study to test the influence of independent variables on the dependent variable and also to ascertain the rate of change in the dependent variable as determined by increase or decrease in the independent variables. Findings-The results of the regression analysis will reveal that student’s exposure to entrepreneurship education has a positive influence on the students’ entrepreneurial intentions. Research Limitations/implications-Examining the impact of entrepreneurial education on students’ entrepreneurial activities tends to raise or provide some useful insights into some theoretical issues on one hand. And on the other hand, it raises some practical implications for policy makers both in the government and Polytechnics. However, this study is limited based on the information available when the research is carried out. Further research could look at the effect of the entrepreneurship education on entrepreneurial activities after graduation. This study hence recommends that the Nigerian government should make entrepreneurship education a compulsory course in Nigerian schools (primary, secondary and tertiary institutions). This will help to influence youth’s attitude towards entrepreneurship. Originality /value-The study makes empirical and theoretical contribution by focusing on the research area that has received less attention especially in the context of study environment.

Isere, Victoria Oshuare Merab
Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, School of General Studies, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi
Foreign Direct Investment is essential in the productive sector of economies where its impact is truly felt in employment generation which in turn boosts economic growth rate of the FDI recipient country. With all these benefits and more, policy makers direct policies towards trade openness and friendly business environment to ensure they can attract good foreign investment. This paper was set to investigate the impact of economic growth, unemployment and inflation on FDI in Nigeria. The results reveal that only second and third period lags of the explanatory variables were statistically significant. Specifically, GDP and unemployment had a negative but non-significant relationship with FDI individually. The study recommends a need to increase Nigeria’s domestic investment as this will help to reduce the increase in unemployment as FDI inflow increases. It is also recommended that FDI will increase economic growth in Nigeria if government policies are properly implemented in the area of employment generation and reduction of inflation rates.

An Alternative Perspective to Understanding Climate Change-Induced Farmers-Herdsmen Conflict in Nigeria
Department of Public Administration, School of Business Studies, Federal Polytechnic Bauchi.
Hazardous socioeconomic activities on environmental resources among various contenders pose the threat of desertification that inevitably exacerbates conflict between the farmers and herders with devastating effects. Abundant literature analyzed the cause and nature of farmers–herdsmen conflict substantial of which focused on widespread social tension and political instability, whereas inadequate literature continue to remain an inherent characteristic of climate change as catalyst reinforcing farmers-herders conflict. The magnitude, recurrence and escalation of the farmers–herders conflict recently inspired dialectical delusion that the conflict will be unending so long the climate change persists. Employing literature review, this paper infer that threat of environmental degradation (desertification) reinforce competition for scarce resources (fertile soil and water) and consequently led to incessant violent conflict between farmers and herdsmen. Persistent of farmers-herders conflict cannot be debased from misconstruing the conflict as ethnic and religious clash, and the inability of the major actors/stakeholders including the government and media houses to adopt adequate, robust, sustainable and all inclusive measures to mitigate the conflict. Some of the plausible solutions to achieve sustainable peace and security include reconstruction of all-inclusive framework to deal with the climate change induced conflict, building trust between stakeholders, setting up of administrative mechanism for peace and conflict resolution, capacity building training on modern system of agricultural practice and curtailing the influx of illegal small firearms and light weapons; and illegal migrants.

Throughout the course of history, disease outbreaks have ravage humanity sometimes changing the course of history. All sector of the economic will be crumbled, the fear of what next always griped every one and at times, it seems the end of entire civilizations has come. COVID-19 is an acronym of ‘corona virus’ that started in Wuhan, China in December 2019 is one of such plagues. COVID-19 pandemic sweeps across the world putting all aspect of humanity on hold. In many part of the world, the agriculture industry was labeled as critical, allowing business to continue to operate as usual despite current and potential restrictions enacted to stop the spread of the virus. This made every step along the agriculture industry supply chains stepping up to keep employees and consumers safe while still providing vital equipment, services, commodities feed and food. Government in most countries took proactive steps to combat the situation. For instance Nigerian government promised to finance up to 1.6 million people on agriculture this year and different NGOs and individual are also in support, but the restrictions on movement of people and moving raw materials across closed borders or having enough healthy workers to keep the industries operational limit the success. The aim of this write up is therefore, to sensitize the youth to explore some opportunities in agriculture amidst this pandemic to combat the situation both now and in the near future.
